MEHAN CALLS FOR WORK TO START ON THE GOSFORD BYPASS MISSING LINK
Member for The Entrance, David Mehan, is calling on the Government to restart work on Stage 4 of the Gosford Bypass, where no work has occurred since 2016 and no work is anticipated for 10 years.
The Gosford Bypass is a “major transport route[1]” upgrading the Pacific Highway from the M1 at Ourimbah extending to and including Manns Road, West Gosford. More than 30,000 motorists use this route daily.
The upgrades comprise 5 stages (see attached). Stages 1 through 3 are completed, or almost so. Stage 5 has been fully funded but not yet started. Meanwhile, no real work to advance Stage 4 has occurred since 2016.
In relation to Stage 4, a 2014 study by Transport for NSW found: ‘The section of Pacific Highway from Narara to Lisarow and the intersections at Railway Crescent and Manns Road are currently operating over capacity for through traffic, carrying around 30,000 vehicles per day. This has resulted in traffic queuing and delays with a Level of Service (LOS) at F during peak periods.’ [2]
To emphasise the importance of Stage 4, Mr Mehan has given Notice of Motion in the NSW Parliament to highlight the issue (see attached).
“Central Coast residents have been bumper-to-bumper on this stretch of road for far too long and deserve better.
“Stage 4 is the missing link – without which the full benefits of the Gosford Bypass won’t be realised.
“I am calling on the state government to restart work on stage 4 and build the missing link!” Mr Mehan said.
